How to pay for your meals? |
|
You will receive a MONTHLY ACCOUNT. It would be appreciated if you could settle this account within 7 days of receiving it. Other arrangements for payment can be organised if necessary.
WARNING - Never hand cash to anyone claiming to be from Ku-ring-gai Meals on Wheels. If you have any concerns when a person comes to your door claiming to be from Ku-ring-gai Meals on Wheels, and you are unsure, please ring
our office 91442044. |

Asking Volunteers to do Errands? |
|
Meals on Wheels Volunteers are unable to do errands for you because of insurance difficulties. The Volunteers are only permitted to deliver meals to your door and bring cheques/money orders (and sometimes cash) for settlement of accounts, back to the kitchen.
If you need any assistance or any other support please ring the Office 9144 2044 and staff will direct you to the appropriate community service. |

How to Cancel Meals? |
|
If you are away from home and wish to cancel your meal, please make sure you:-
Notify Meals on Wheels before 4.00pm at the latest on the previousday. If possible, 24 hours notice would be appreciated.
Arrange for someone to contact Meals on Wheels if you are taken to hospital. The hospital will do this if you ask them.
Advise Meals on Wheels of the date of your return home as soon as possible.
If you cancel your meal after 4pm we can stop the delivery but you will still be charged for that meal.
Unfortunately due to stringent health and safety reasons our Service can NOT deliver meals which are left unattended (ie, meals left in boxes, containers or eskies).
IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO BE AWAY FROM HOME WHEN THE VOLUNTEER CALLS, OR YOU ARE UNABLE TO TAKE DELIVERY OF YOUR MEAL YOU MAY LIKE TO ORDER A FROZEN MEAL TO BE DELIVERED THE DAY BEFORE
If you order a meal, and do not notify the Service that you will not be at home on a particular day, you will still be charged for the meal.

What is
the Luncheon Club? |
|
The Luncheon Club is held in our Turramurra Dining Room everyday Monday. This provides opportunities for you to enjoy a 3 course meal in the friendly company of other people. Transport is available from your home to the centre and return.

Advocacy? |
|
For lots of different reasons, people can find communication with others difficult. If you would feel more comfortable with another person speaking on your behalf, please let us know. This person will be your ADVOCATE who may be a family member, friend or from an Advocacy Service.

Complaints and Grievances? |
|
Ku-ring-gai Meals on Wheels Service aims to provide a high quality service and we would like to know if you have any concerns with the meals or the service delivery. If you have a complaint or grievance it is very important to discuss it with
us. Your Volunteer helper may also be of some assistance in this area, but they may not always have the answers you are looking for. If you still have any concerns, please phone the Manager on 9144 2044.
YOUR MEALS WILL NOT BE STOPPED IF YOU COMPLAIN.
If you are not satisfied with the response from the Service Manager you may contact any member of the Board of Management of Ku-ring-gai Meals on Wheels. You may also contact the New South Wales Meals on Wheels Association.4/80 Cooper St Ph:8219 4200, Surry Hills NSW 2010 Ph: 9281 5733.

This is a free and confidential service which can assist you in working through complaints about the service you are receiving. |

Client Rights? |
|
You have the right:
- To be assessed to receive meals on wheels services without discrimination
- To a nutritious meal and a reliable service
- To complain or express your concerns about the service without fear of losing the service or suffering recriminations
- To be have your complaints dealt with fairly and promptly
- To be represented by an advocate of your choice in any appeal or complaint process. This can be a family member or friend or from an advocacy service
- To privacy and confidentiality
- To access all information about yourself held by Ku-ring-gai Meals on Wheels
- To refuse service. This will not prejudice future access to meals
- Your views will be taken into account in future planning and evaluation of the service
- To withdraw your consent at any time for the release of information

Client Responsibilities? |
|
To be at home and to answer the door when
the Volunteer delivers your meal. To inform Ku-ring-gai Meals on Wheels Service
when you do not require the service. If the office is not notified when you are
away then meals ordered and delivered on your behalf will be charged to your
account. To pay for the meals delivered to you within 7 days of receiving your
account. To be aware that meal deliveries are made by Volunteers who give their
time freely. To ensure safe and easy access to your residence, e.g. Visible
house numbers, ensure that any dogs are locked away during meal delivery times.That paths to your door are
clear & safe |

HOT MEAL:Eat it immediately
CHILLED MEAL:Refrigerate it immediately
FROZEN MEAL:Refrigerate or place in freezer immediately. |

Does Your Diet Measure Up? |
|
Your Meals on Wheels meal includes a main course, juice, dessert.
We aim to make this meal as nutritious as possible, yet you need to eat two other meals a day to meet your nutrition needs. |
